چکیده
Hepatists C Virus is a RNA virus belonging to the Fl aviriridae family. It has been seen in previous studies that HCV infection perse is associated with reduced ovarian reserve and higher cycle cancellation rate in ovarian cycles. Simultaneously treatment of HCV with Pegylated Interferon (PEG-IFN) and ribavirin (RBV) is known to affect the ovarian reserve. Although there are some controversial reports regarding effect of HCV on fertility. Some guidelines have been laid regarding on co-fertility situations where prior to starting treatment cryopreservation of oocytes/embryos should be done by doing an IVF cycle. We discuss such controversial issues in a case who had chronic HCV infection affecting liver function besides bad obstetric disease and needed antiviral therapy for Chronic HCV infection affecting liver function, but whether at her age was doing cryopreservation indicated or justified in view of her age and known effects of HCV treatment on future fertility and risk of spread. We also review the modern advancements in the treatment of HCV infection and their future effects on fertility. *Corresponding author: Kulvinder Kochar Kaur, Scientific Director, Dr Kulvinder Kaur Centre for Human Reproduction, 721, G.T.B. Successful Hepatitis C Antiviral Therapy Induces Remission of Type 2 Diabetes: A Case Report
BACKGROUND Type 2 diabetes is a well described extra-hepatic manifestation of hepatitis C infection (HCV). Eradication of HCV has led to improvements in insulin resistance but to date has not been shown to induce remission of diabetes. CASE REPORT We report a case of a 49-year-old man with HCV and a 2-year history of T2DM on oral agents. He was initially treated with peg-interferon/ribavirin ...
متن کاملAcute pancreatitis associated with pegylated interferon-alpha-2a therapy in chronic hepatitis C.
Chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is a major cause of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Combination therapy of pegylated interferon-alpha (PEG-IFN-α) and ribavirin (RBV) is a current standard treatment for chronic HCV infection in Korea, which has considerable adverse effects. Acute pancreatitis is a rare complication of PEG-IFN-α administration. We report a case of a 62-yea...

BACKGROUND Telaprevir (TVR) plus peginterferon-α2a (PEG-IFN-α2a) and ribavirin substantially increases treatment efficacy for genotype 1 chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection versus PEG-IFN-α2a-ribavirin alone. Its safety and efficacy in patients with HCV and HIV-1 are unknown. OBJECTIVE To assess the safety and efficacy of TVR plus PEG-IFN-α2a-ribavirin in patients with genotype 1 HCV an...
متن کاملSustained Virological Response after 8-Week Treatment of Simeprevir with Peginterferon α-2a plus Ribavirin in a Japanese Female with Hepatitis C Virus Genotype 1b and IL28B Minor Genotype
Direct-acting antivirals with or without peginterferon α (PEG-IFN α) plus ribavirin are now available for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Direct-acting antivirals are potent inhibitors of HCV replication, but some of them occasionally possess serious adverse events. We experienced a 64-year-old female with chronic HCV genotype 1b infection who showed elevated alanine aminotr...
متن کاملTreatment of Hepatitis C Virus Infection and Associated Vascular Complications: A Literature Review
Interferon (IFN)-based therapy, the cornerstone for treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, is generally considered to be the single most effective treatment strategy for this infection. Although most adverse effects of IFN therapy respond very well to the cessation of this drug, there are reports of serious irreversible adverse effects. This review article evaluates the adverse effects...
